‘Walls’ is an attempt to document the barriers that need to be overcome while building a peaceful coexistence within Palestine and Israel. Some of the barriers are physical- the ‘Security wall’ that obstructs any chance of Palestinians and Israeli’s becoming in contact with each other and the many checkpoints that restrict the Palestinian people from living an ordinary life.

My son asks, “Why did they burn my bed? Why did they destroy my toys?

Often the barriers are put up in the minds of the people, who have endured many years of suffering and bitterness. Often, the bitterness leads to violence, which in turn, makes the walls stronger.

“The hardest thing for me is not my house being destroyed, I can build another, but how do I explain this to my children in good words. I don’t want my children to kill Israeli’s. My son asks, “Why did they burn my bed? Why did they destroy my toys?””
